PHILOSOPHY

Seoul Christian School adopts as its basic philosophy quality education within a framework of historical fundamental Christianity. Toward this end, the following specific statements of philosophy are directed:

1.          We believe that all  knowledge, whether scientific, historical, philosophical, or spiritual finds its verity in its relationship to God as the ultimate source and foundation of all truth. We further believe that God's purpose in the creation of man was to glorify Himself.

2.          We believe that man is a sinner by nature, through Adam and by his own choice, and cannot in this state glorify God. In order to attain this end, man's nature and desires must be changed by a personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.

3.          We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the infallible and only rule of faith and practice.

4.       We believe that the educational process must include an effort to lead the individual student to a personal acceptance of Jesus Christ. The educational process must present all truth as God's truth and must interpret it by, and integrate it with God's Word, and must seek to relate the whole person to God - - spiritually, physically, socially and intellectually.

5.       We believe that the education of children is the God-given responsibility of the parents and that the school is to function as an extension of the home and church to meet this obligation.

6.       We believe that the educational process must inspire within the student a conscientious, loyal and reverent attitude toward the responsibilities presently assigned to the student and toward those responsibilities which come with growth and maturation.

7.       We believe that the environment for learning must be wholesome and serious to be most effective. To effect such an environment, the learning process must be conducted under a system of firm, fair, and loving discipline. The school should strive to impress upon the student that his or her intellectual and spiritual welfare is of prime importance.

8.       We believe that the intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of the student can best by met when sound and proven teaching methodology is integrated with fundamental Bible teaching.

9.       We believe that the educational process must seek to produce individuals who can reason intelligently and rationally, communicate effectively, perform basic mathematical computations accurately, and display an intelligent and healthy understanding of society and social living.OBJECTIVES

The school board of the Seoul Christian School realized that little can be accomplished in the overall school program without specific goals in mind. Therefore, on the basis of the purpose and philosophy of the school, the following behavioral objectives have been formulated.

1.       The student will be able to demonstrate his knowledge that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and man.

2.       The staff will strive to actively integrate Christianity into every aspect of the child's life.

3.       The teachers and aides will teach essential doctrines of the Bible and the church.

4.       The student will be encouraged to accept a personal and saving relationship  with Christ.

5.       The staff will engender a desire to know and do the will of God.

6.       The staff will demonstrate and teach students consistent Christian daily living.

7.       The teachers will stress the urgency of world missions and personal witnessing.

8.       The student will demonstrate an ability to work independently and cooperatively.

9.       The student will learn to think for himself, to stand up for his personal convictions in the face of pressure and to be diligent.

IO. The student will have the opportunity to develop his creative skills and to develop an appreciation of the fine arts.

11. The student will acquire the knowledge and skills required for future study or for occupational competence.

12. The student will develop desire and discretion in wholesome physical and mental recreation.

13. The student will learn about our Christian heritage and the current problems facing our country and world.

14. The student will be able to do research and use the scientific method.

15.The student will develop good study habits.
